The Australian pop fixture directed followers to her official site to listen to a short clip of track "All The Lovers" last night, but the rush of interest was much bigger than Minogue has anticipated.
"Aaahhhhhhhh...you've overloaded the system!!!," the star Tweeted minutes after the clip's release.
"That is the strength of your combined power!!!!!!! OMG!!!"
The single will be released in the lead up to Minogue's latest studio album, Aphrodite, on July 5.
Touted as a "celebration of her dance floor roots", the album has been produced by acclaimed British electronic artist and songwriter Steve Price.
Price has worked with the likes of Madonna, Seal and Missy Elliott and won a Grammy in 2004 for No Doubt's chart hit "It's My Life".
Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears, DJ Calvin Harris and Keane's Tim Rice-Oxley also collaborated with Minogue on the album, which will be her 11th studio effort.
“The single was one of the last tracks to be written for the album," Minogue said.
"As I was recording it I knew that “All The Lovers” had to be the first single; it sums up the euphoria of the album perfectly. It gives me goose-bumps, so I’m really excited to hear what everyone thinks of it”.
Younger sister and TV talent show judge Dannii Minogue was among the first to Tweet her congratulations, declaring the single a ''smash hit''.
The singer is expected to release full album details in the coming weeks.
One of the most successful - and enduring - pop artists of the last 20 years, Minogue has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide.
Aphrodite is the first full-length album recording by Minogue in two years, following the release of X in 2008.
