AC/DC - homegrown legends
May 25th 2009 02:24
AC/DC are an Aussie icon – in fact ask just about any music lover anywhere in the world what they know about AC/DC and the first thing you’re likely to encounter is a little air guitar work and some serious head banging.
Formed in Sydney back in 1973 the group is offically classified as hard rockers though purists will argue vehmently that they were in fact pioneers of heavy metal.
Having undergone several line-up changes before releasing their first album in 1975 the group has remained relatively stable (as far as groups go) with really the replacement of Mark Evans by massist Cliff Williams in the mid 70s, and of course the death of Bon Scott in 1980 from a alchol fuelled night of lechery.
Having sold more than 200 million albums worldwide including 71 million albums in the United States AC/DC ranked fourth on VH1’s list of the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and the seventh "Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time" by MTV.
In 2004, the band was ranked number 72 in the Rolling Stone list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The effects this will have on Gospel music are untold.
By 2026 AC/DC will be fronted by Cat Stevens.
This is a call to action.

I flicked over to 60 Minutes last night and saw the interview with the two guys from ACDC. I don't like their music, but they're really funny, likeable characters who I enjoyed watching.

I saw that too - it's amazing how your perception of things changes when you get to hear some of these guys interviewed.

I saw this too! It's amazing how your perception of someone can change when you see (or hear) them interviewed. Perhaps age has something to do with it too . . .

Sex, drugs and rock and roll - apparently the staple diet. Probably some hard work thrown in as well

Despite popular belief - the idea actually came from one of the group members mother's sewing machine - where the AC/DC current was part of the labelling . . . or so they tell us now!

I agree. The hiatus was too long - and it looks more like a money grab - which they're doing very nicely mind you.
Bit same-o same-o for mine as well. But I guess that's what the fans want

VER!!!!
When I first became an AC/DC fan in '75,when they re-
leased their "High Voltage" debut album,I was 22 and, like
most blacks,a Motown fan. While Berry Gordy's music fac-
tory has put out MANY great songs from its pantheon of
great artists, most of their music was female-oriented and
about good-looking guys' begging b***hy broads for a
moment of their(the chicks')precious time.AC/DC,however,
showed me how to be a dude, and that hot, willing babes
are EVERYWHERE,which they're still doing as 2010 ap-
proaches.LONG LIVE THE AUSSIE LADS!!!
